Wildwoodz Newsletter November 2009
Well it's been a really busy summer season again and we've got loads of news for you...
Laserstrike arrives
We've added a new activity on site - Laserstrike. It's like Lazertag but on steroids!
Laserstrike guns shoot a powerful infa-red beam accurately up to 90 metres. If your sensor gets hit you lose a life. Laserstrike is real life computer gaming - no computer generated image - just you and your wits. There's no flying paintballs to pay for so it's fixed cost and obviously doesn't require the safety goggles needed to play paintball. You can play Laserstrike from aged 8 upwards (younger players by special requirement) but it's not just for kids - Adults are loving this too. Laserstrike is ideal for parties where time or funds is limited. Perfect for a visit before your Christmas meal with prices starting at just £17.50 per person.
Airsoft arrives too.
Airsoft is like paintball and Laserstrike only with BB guns. Until now the nearest registered Airsoft venue for highland based players was in Dundee. Due to popular demand Wildwoodz underwent the stringent registration process and is now the only registered Airsoft Venue in the Highlands! Everyone knows someone who's into airsoft - now they have a membership based venue where they can participate in exciting skirmishes run by a company with a top quality gaming pedigree - Wildwoodz.
Venue upgrades.
Regular visitors will notice that there have been continual upgrades to the facilities on site over the summer. We've provided more covered seating in the safe-zone and upgraded all our existing fields. Plans are in place for some additional fields to be completed by early April that will cater for all three activities we offer.
Our Teams shine.
Wildwoodz is heavily into promoting tournament paintball as a hobby / sporting activity for young people. Wildwoodz hosts the Scottish Paintball Players Series of events throughout the year and sponsors a total of seven local teams. Local Paintball Team Inverness Caledonian Extreme recently finished the season with squads in both first and second place in the Championship table! Wildwoodz squads took 3 of the first five spots in the national league. www.invernesspaintball.co.uk
The Highland Tournament Paintball Association.
Due to the popularity of paintball as a sport in the Highlands a new association is being formed. HiTPA is chaired by Arthur McNeil of Inverness who has been working with the Scottish Football Association for many years but has now decided Paintball is his first love. Paul Miller of Inverness will be assisting Arthur promote the sport of paintball throughout the Highlands as an alternative to the computer gaming culture of today. Paintball not only provides exercise but also teaches many social skills to young people. HiTPA will be based at Wildwoodz and will be working alongside our existing youth academy throughout the year. www.hitpa.org
